The 54th edition of the ZEWOTHERM ADAC Barbarossapreis or NLS 7 is over and, as always, on the Nordschleife it was a real rollercoaster of emotions!
I started the race with a strategic gamble on tire choice because we decided to start on slicks despite the wet track, as the sun was already shining. The conditions were very difficult and the goal was to survive and stay on track, which I managed to do. We made a good choice because many competitors had to stop before us to switch to slicks, which allowed us to climb many positions and thus fight for the podium.
Despite an excellent pace, a perfectly executed strategy and a podium that seemed ours, we had an unexpected mechanical failure that caused us to lose power and 15 minutes in the pits for repairs. Our mechanics did an excellent job, repairing the car as quickly as possible and getting us back in the race.
At this point, all we could do was give it our all to recover as many positions as possible to score points. We finished 8th in our category after some excellent stints in difficult conditions since it started raining again while we were still on slicks, but we drove well and earned valuable points for the championship!
